This week, DMS is thrilled to welcome Ben Andrews to our team as Head of Digital Experience.
The dynamic landscape of digital and social media channels is a key stimulus for Ben, who revels in the challenge of keeping up with the constant changes from the big platforms and evolving ways to stand out in a highly competitive marketplace. The goal: to maximise a destination’s ability to be exposed to new audiences and keep existing audiences wanting more.
Ben will also be leading the way with our new ComeVisit platform to activate local communities to invite their friends and relatives to visit.

Ben joins us from Destination Barrington Coast, the destination brand of Mid-Coast Council in NSW. He has been working in the destination marketing space for around 10 years. With a keen eye for trends in the digital space, Ben is an advocate for destinations to complement their traditional marketing activities with a stronger focus on digital channels.
After years ‘on the tools’, Ben has developed innovative digital strategies, particularly across social media channels to deliver a destination’s brand promise through remarkable content that builds, reaches and engages audiences.
Ben was a driving force behind the recent success of Destination Barrington Coast, managing all of their newly created digital channels, including website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok and along the way making them some of the most engaged with destination channels in NSW.
He was also the first person to successfully have a regional destination’s social media channels verified by Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, an admission from the channels that the pages had created a noteworthy and active presence on their platforms.
It’s not all about posting pretty pictures and videos. Ben knows how to break down a destination’s marketing strategy and goals and turn it in to ‘thumb stopping’ content, aimed at desired target markets and addressing destination strategic pillars. He also understands the different audiences across channels and the need to diversify content to suit their engagement triggers.
Ben works closely with tourism businesses, passing on his skills through capacity building workshops. From Facebook Basics to Optimising User Generated Content on TikTok, Ben can confidently explain the power of social media and how businesses can best standout in a crowded space. He has also managed business social media accounts, developing strategies to help increase their reach and engagement with audiences.
